This article looks back at a special creation for Arkose Massy, a bouldering gym located in Essonne. An upcycled artwork created from a repurposed CD, hand-painted, and gifted to the venue that inspired it. From the initial grip to the final gesture, everything matters.

? A Reused Medium: From Cultural Waste to Artistic Expression

This numbered CD was recovered and transformed through an artistic reuse approach.
Hand-painted with acrylic, it embodies my vision of contemporary upcycling art: giving a second life to materials destined for incineration.

Materials:

Reused CD

Acrylic paint

Protective varnish

Transform rather than discard.
  Let the material be reborn.

?‍♀️ Side A — Varnel: The First Contact

The first side depicts a stylised climbing shoe.

A symbol of the first contact with the wall.

Every hold engages the body.

Every choice carries intention.

In climbing as in creation, the gesture matters.

? Side B — Thyrex: Matter in Motion

The second side evokes a geode in motion.

It symbolises the inner transformation of matter.

What once seemed inert becomes alive.

What was meant to be discarded becomes expression.

♻️ A Committed Artwork

This creation is part of both an ecological and artistic approach:

Reuse of cultural media supports

Waste reduction

Creative enhancement of materials

Gentle awareness of the circular economy

Commitment does not stop at the summit.
